Luis Felipe specialises in the development, deployment and management of web-based geographic information systems (GIS) and business intelligence (BI) systems, such as PowerBI and Tableau.
Prior to joining 3Keel, Luis Felipe worked as GIS researcher and project coordinator at Earthwatch, where he developed the catchment explorer platform CatchX, which addresses the severe lack of water-related information in data scarce contexts. CatchX is a web-based, global scope, catchment hydrological information platform that not only allows non-expert users access to hydrological information, but also provides meaningful, locally relevant, visualisation of these data for decision making.
Luis Felipe has also worked as part of teams delivering projects funded as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. These include projects developing citizen observatories focusing in flora and fauna, water availability and water quality; as well as, measuring the impact of citizen science. He has also contributed to the open online course “Introduction to Citizen Science and Scientific Crowdsourcing” in the theme of practical aspects of data management in citizen science projects.
Luis Felipe is an active volunteer for MapAction, which provides emergency mapping in humanitarian disasters, as well as training and capacity building for disaster management. He holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Medellin – Colombia and a MSc in Environmental Mapping from University College London.
