She works primarily in the Circular Economy Team, combining research, data-evidenced analysis and insight for clients who are eager to make more sustainable choices across their products and services. She has also spent time in the Sustainable Commodities team, working with UK and European retailer clients to map, analyse and address deforestation risks in their soy supply chains.
Prior to joining 3Keel, Maddy was a Research Assistant within the Food Systems Transformation Group at the University of Oxford. She was the Lead Author in a published journal article, ‘Assessing Resilience Across the Food System’, which can be accessed here.
Maddy studied Geography at the University of Oxford and completed her dissertation on the benefits and drawbacks of technological solutions in resolving socio and environmental problems, namely food waste. Alongside her studies, she participated in the IFSTAL (Interdisciplinary Food Systems Teaching and Learning) programme to better understand the complex nature of food systems. Maddy also undertook a range of sustainability-related internships within CSR departments at luxury retail and organic food companies during her university vacations. She also enjoyed volunteering at University, and lead Project SOUP, a charitable organisation that aimed to reduce food-waste by organising and delivering community fundraising dinners that used surplus food as the main source of ingredients. She is a Graduate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), and looks forward to building a career in the sustainability industry.
