The Basics

Name: Katie Hinde

Job title: Junior Consultant

Lives: London

Qualifications: MSc Food Policy, MA International Relations

Welcome to 3Keel! How have your first days been so far?

They’ve been busy! There’s lots of things going on at the moment, so lots to learn. There’s also so many people to meet, so it’s been really social, which is great

What have you started working on?

I’ve been getting up to speed with all things supply chain mapping, specifically looking at supplier’s soy declarations and understanding the data coming in here.

What are you looking forward to most about working for 3Keel?

I’m really excited to be working in the Commodities Supply Chain Unit, It’s the perfect place to continue learning about really interesting and complex issues whist delivering project work. 3Keel is great because it offers a collaborative and dynamic working culture which is still friendly, so there’s lots of people to learn from.

Who or what inspired you to work in sustainability?

I grew up in the countryside, and really value nature in my life. But really it was learning about the politics of food and the food system that brought me into sustainability. It’s such a complex world and it connects and shapes all the areas I wanted to work in, namely social justice, human rights and environmental sustainability.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

I love getting outside and exercising, especially cold water swimming and hiking. I tend to be quite busy on the weekends exploring new places with friends and then cosying up with a book. In London my favourite escape is out to Richmond, I love it there. It’s so leafy and beautiful, and it’s full of gorgeous dogs and streets.
