Nice to meet you Sydney!
Enchantée !
What made you want to work in sustainability?
My Grandma is an environmental activist and instructor, so I’ve been learning and acting on environmental health and sustainability for as long as I can remember. As I’ve grown, I’ve continued to think about transforming our relationship to the planet and the decision to work in the sector came naturally.
Why did 3Keel appeal?
Upon finding out about the company, I immediately warmed to its values as a B corporation and as a group of passionate professionals who are driven by change. I was also drawn to the very wide breadth of topics 3keel consults on, believing strongly that integrated and inter-sectional thinking is necessary to transform our relationship with the planet.
How’s it going so far?
So far so good (gradually getting the grip on English idioms…!). Everyone is so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and I’ve been finding the work very thought provoking and engaging – I feel very lucky!
We’re all ‘Working From Home’ at the moment – how are you finding this?
I’ve been adapting to the situation as best as I can! I’m lucky to have access to a quiet space overlooking bird-filled trees to work, and have slowly been figuring out my routine. One thing it involves is a quick walk or cycle around the neighbourhood before I start to pretend I’m commuting, it’s quite fun (and funny). The one thing I sometimes find difficult about starting a new job from home is not having met my colleagues in person – I definitely look forward to a time when I will be able to put a real life presence to a Zoom one!
How do you stay engaged and connected with your colleagues when WFH?
Meetings on projects with Tom and others always start with a genuine ‘how are you’ and quick chat on what’s going on outside of work (be it on the virus, on families and friends or on politics …) – I’m always grateful for these opportunities to connect. The regular coffee mornings and gardening club have also been a wonderful way to engage with everyone, as have the chats I’ve been having with different 3keel members to get to know them and their work better.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy anything that involved being outdoors. I love cycling and playing ultimate frisbee, and Lyon is right by the Alpes so you’ll sometimes find me hiking or skiing in the mountains. Outdoors or indoors, I am an avid reader and podcast listener.
Thanks Sydney, we’re really excited to be working with you
Merci, moi aussi !
