Sam joins 3Keel for internship

My name is Sam, and I’m delighted to be joining the 3Keel team over the next 3 months. I graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford this year with a BA in Biological Sciences, and I hope to undertake a masters in food security over the next couple of years.

My main interest is in crop growth and how it relates to food security. During my dissertation I worked with crop pathogens to identify protein regions contributing to resistance. I continued to specialise in plant sciences during my final year, taking modules in plant genetics, and agriculture. I am also interested in food surplus and wastage, especially in the UK, following an internship in a food redistribution centre.

I hope that working with 3Keel will allow me to translate my academic interest in plant sciences into practical approaches in the field of sustainability. In particular, I am keen to develop my interest in agriculture by working at different levels in the supply chain to gain a more holistic perspective of food systems. I will be working on both internal and external projects and look forward to meeting with clients and writing for professional audiences as I support 3Keel partners and consultants. I can’t wait to get started and learn more about the challenges, as well as the many advantages offered by working towards a sustainable future.
