Simon Miller
Managing Director
Simon is an energetic and creative sustainability specialist with a strong track record of advising large businesses in the FMCG sector and working in partnership with NGOs. He understands grocery supply chains and has significant experience of strategy development, interpreting metrics, and communicating concepts to non-technical audiences. He is happiest when getting stuck into a knotty problem, clutching marker pen in hand to develop ideas with those around him.
Simon is one of 3Keel’s co-founders and acts as Managing Partner. He is the arch convener, responsible for bringing the team together to share views and hatch plans for the next stages of the 3Keel journey. He has worked in the sustainability sector since 2004, after completing his MSc Environmental Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh, which is also where he grew up.
Simon’s long list of projects ranges from detailed greenhouse gas accounting for Tesco through to strategy development for land management at the Crown Estate to supporting Greenpeace UK on promoting the need for the grocery sector to more seriously examine scope for reuse solutions to reduce single use packaging. Simon was appointed General Manager of the Cool Farm Alliance from 2015 to 2018, where he helped to shore up the organisation, significantly expand its membership and enable rapid evolution of the Cool Farm Tool. In short, where project work is involved he is a jack of all 3Keel practice areas, with mastery of some.
Over the course of his career, Simon’s commitment and sense of urgency has accelerated, just like many peers in the sector. Simon devotes chunks of his downtime listening to podcasts and audio books that ponder climate change and our future, to try to make some sense of the changes that lie ahead and how best to amplify the impacts of 3Keel’s work.
