Thomas Richardson

Junior Consultant

Thomas is a member of the Sustainable Commodities Team at 3Keel. His work aims to increase the transparency across commodity supply chains to enable enhanced decision-making and action regarding complex social and ecological challenges. He is passionate about food system resilience and the transition of agricultural systems in a just and equitable manner.

Before he joined 3Keel, Thomas worked for Blue North, an organisation navigating sustainability within the South African agricultural industry, where he supported carbon emission assessments for actors in the country’s fruit and wine sectors. Prior to this, he managed several projects at Wonderbag, a social NGO focussed on clean cooking solutions and enterprise development within low-income and rural communities.

Thomas holds an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge, where he researched the prospects for a just transition within South African agriculture, and a BEng (Hons) in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, which included a dissertation on modelling the spread of fire in conservation areas. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys running around outdoors, surfing and spending time in SA’s wildlife reserves.
