Celebrating the success of six years of apprenticeships at 3Keel
3Keel is celebrating National Apprenticeships Week. And we have good reason to. Each year since 2020, a new apprentice has joined our team and all five who have graduated so far went on to secure permanent roles here.
Apprenticeships are a vital part of our efforts to be an inclusive organisation where a diverse mix of talented people join, stay and deliver their best work.
The climate and biodiversity crises demand creative, tailored solutions that will best come from the contributions of people from as wide a range of backgrounds, experiences and ideas as possible to achieve real innovation for our clients. Creating routes into the sector that aren’t reliant on university degrees is a vital part of that effort.
Above all, apprenticeships are about finding and nurturing talented individuals who can develop long term careers. As Will Schreiber, the director who initiated our apprenticeships, says: “Every apprentice we have trained has stayed on in permanent roles. This demonstrates the immense talent of those taking that path into sustainability.”
Caroline Rodgers, Head of People, sees real value in the scheme: “Apprenticeships are a fresh route into sustainability consulting. We’re committed to increasing diversity within sustainability and apprenticeships are one of the ways to support broader access to the sector.”
Amy Thomson was our first apprentice, back in 2020, and is developing a career at 3Keel that includes managing the apprentices who have followed her. She says: “Starting at 3Keel as an apprentice and now managing apprentices myself has been incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder of how powerful apprenticeships can be – not just as a way into work, but as a pathway to long-term development. Supporting new apprentices to build confidence, learn on the job and see what’s possible in their careers is something I’m really proud to be a part of.”
