Committed to being a certified B Corp
3Keel has published its latest Impact Report, which is part of our B Corp commitment to accountability, transparency and continuous improvement. It provides insight into our progress from April 2024 to March 2025 and outlines our objectives for the year ahead. With a team now 100-strong, 3Keel’s expansion has been matched by internal evolution, including a new governance structure, enhanced people policies and a consistent focus on making an impact for clients.
Building robust governance for a resilient future
Over the past two years, our directors have strengthened 3Keel’s governance to ensure long-term stability. We transitioned from a limited liability partnership to a limited company, embedding B Corp standards into our new Articles of Association. In FY24/25, we appointed our first Finance Director and launched a staff equity scheme that is open to all employees.
To enhance accountability across finance, people development and quality assurance, we reorganised service delivery into distinct business units: Agriculture & Landscapes; Climate, Nature & Resources; and Commodity Supply Chains. Subsequently, we added a fourth, which is dedicated to our rapidly growing Landscape Enterprise Networks programme.
Supporting a culture that reflects our values
To support our team, we rolled out enhanced career pathways, refined our competency framework, and launched new training offers. We invested in hybrid working infrastructure, turned our head office into a training hub, and opened new spaces in Oxford, London and Bristol. Staff used sabbaticals, shared parental leave, and internal development programmes to broaden their experience and renew their focus.
In 2020, we introduced structured apprenticeships as an alternative to university. Four apprentices have now joined 3Keel this way and you can read an interview with Amy Thomson, the first of our apprentices, in the report and on our website.
Community commitments
In the report, you can read details of our latest volunteering, charity donations and sponsorship. We donate a percentage of our profits to charity; and we encourage colleagues to serve their communities in work time. The latter is supported by a policy that allows each member of staff 22.5 hours (three days) paid time to volunteer.
Making an impact through clients
The report highlights 3Keel’s impact through clients. In the 24-25 financial year, we worked with 130 organisations, across 200+ projects, focusing on sector-leading initiatives that continue to make a measurable impact. In the report, we throw the spotlight on our work on deforestation-free sourcing with Unilever, developing a framework for best practice in scope 3 removals in agricultural supply chains, and climate risk analysis for the UK Brewing sector. Through LENs, we supported 289 farms with regenerative funding and delivered measurable biodiversity outcomes across 47,000+ hectares.
Our environmental footprint
We are committed to reducing our carbon emissions in line with climate science. This year’s corporate scope 1, 2 & 3 footprint confirms that our biggest impacts stem from business travel, purchased goods and services, and commuting. While our operational emissions remain modest due to past investments in solar PV, we know that meaningful progress means tackling our indirect emissions too.
This year, we will set a science-based target aligned to 1.5°C and update our Climate Action Plan to focus on the areas where we can have the most impact. This is critical for playing our part in the transition to a low-carbon society.
Lasting change takes patience and persistence
Looking ahead, we are preparing to recertify to the updated B Corp standard in 2026 and have set goals across governance, community, climate and client outcomes. We remain focused on driving systems change through bold thinking, practical delivery and long-term partnerships.
As Managing Director Simon Miller puts it: “Lasting change takes patience and persistence. Our mission remains to guide our clients towards ambitious yet pragmatic solutions, with actions that help achieve their long-term goals.”
