Richard Sheane

Director

Richard is a Founding Director of 3Keel and plays a central role in shaping the company’s technical strategy, methods and delivery standards. With nearly two decades of experience in sustainability consulting, he specialises in greenhouse gas accounting – particularly emissions and removals from land use, agriculture and food supply chains.

Richard leads 3Keel’s work on complex Scope 3 GHG inventories, with a strong focus on helping clients in the retail and FMCG sectors navigate the risks and opportunities of decarbonisation. He has worked with Tesco, Co-op, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis Partnership, and innocent Drinks, as well as institutional landowners such as the Church Commissioners, National Trust and Environment Agency. Richard has had technical appointments over his career including as Technical Working Group member of the GHG Protocol Standards and LEAF Marque. He is a contributing author to WRAP’s Scope 3 GHG Measurement and Reporting Protocol and was a founding member of the Carbon Accounting Alliance.

He holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and began his career as a farm conservation adviser before moving into corporate consultancy. His background in professional writing helps him communicate complex issues with clarity and impact.
