Analyst

Pin Hong is an analyst in the Commodity and Supply Chain Business Unit. He specialises in supply chain mapping for forest-risk commodities and uses a data-driven approach to assist clients in navigating through complex environmental and social issues. He is proficient in a variety of data processing tools, such as Python and KNIME, and delivers interactive dashboards that enable detailed analyses from farms to consumers.

Pin Hong focuses on delivering long-term data collection programmes, supporting FMCG clients in improving traceability within their palm oil supply chain and achieving deforestation and conversion-free targets. His multidisciplinary approach to data analysis enables clients to unlock insights beyond forest footprint, including land use change emissions and human rights issues. He also works with FMCG companies to identify supply chain risks and impacts from the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation.

Pin Hong holds an MEng in Aeronautics and Astronautics in Computational Engineering and Design from the University of Southampton, which equipped him with skills in advanced mathematical modelling. For his dissertation, he created a complex computational model to investigate the dispersal of air pollutants due to vehicle emissions and identify air pollution hotspots within the city of Southampton.

Pin Hong is a native Mandarin Chinese speaker and proficient in Malay and Indonesian.
